AIR-M Ebenböckhaus City of Munich Residency
6 Jul, 2023 - 27 Sep, 2023
Munich, Germany
Artist Gabriela Mureb (Brazil) has been selected for Salta art’s program 2023 at AIR-M Ebenböckhaus in Munich!
Mureb will arrive in Munich on July 6th for her stay at AIR-M Ebenböckhaus – a residency launched in collaboration with the Department of Arts and Culture of the City of Munich.
Gabriela Mureb’s work deals primarily with the appropriation of industrial parts to produce works situated between sculpture, installation, performance and sound. She is interested in how machines inherently carry, in their shape and movement, information about the context and bodies that produce them. Thus, making viewers aware of the political implications of their invention, production and use.
The residency program of the City of Munich in Villa Waldberta and Ebenböckhaus, offers international guests a temporary home. During their stay, artists, curators and academics from all over the world have the time, space and financial support to network with the local cultural scene and present their work to the public. The common areas in the Ebenböckhaus – foyer and park – are used by different actors of the art and cultural scene in the Pasing district. For the guest artists of the residency programme, exhibition spaces are also available in the flat itself.
Mureb’s selection was made by Salta art’s committee members, Maurin Dietrich (director, Kunstverein München) and José Roca (artistic director, 23rd Biennale of Sydney, director, FLORA ars+natura) in conversation with invited guest juror Pablo León de la Barra (Guggenheim, New York) and a representative from the Department of Arts and Culture of the City of Munich.
