Salta art presents a public intervention by renowned Chilean artist Alfredo Jaar curated by Espacio Temporal at Sorry Square, Munich as part of Various Others.
Alfredo Jaar is an artist, architect, and filmmaker who lives and works in New York. His work has been shown extensively around the world. He has participated in the Venice Biennial (1986, 2007, 2009, 2013), São Paulo Biennial (1987, 1989, 2010, 2021) as well as Documenta in Kassel (1987, 2002).

Sarah Theurer travels to Buenos Aires for a curatorial residency with Salta art. Nominated by Haus der Kunst artistic director Andrea Lissoni, Theurer explores diverse approaches to the relationship between technology and nature. Visits to various archives, institutions, and artists’ studios are organized, along with a public talk. Since joining Haus der Kunst in 2020, Theurer has spearheaded exhibitions and discussions on topics like blockchain, AI, and sound in art.

Carneiro currently holds positions as artistic organizer of the 60th Venice Biennale and curator at the MASP in São Paulo. In conversation, she talks about her curatorial practice, the highlights of the Venice Biennale.

(1964). This event is part of Marta Minujín's participation in the group exhibition "Inside Other Spaces: Environments by Women Artists 1956—1976" at HDK.

Munich-based artist Diogo da Cruz has been selected for Salta art program 2023 at Pivô Research in São Paulo, Brazil! The artist will head to São Paulo, Brazil on August 14 for a stay at Pivô, a downtown nonprofit art space in a building designed by Oscar Niemeyer.
Da Cruz produces partially fictitious scenarios based on scientific findings that refer to past, present or future socio-political scenarios, taking its form as installation, sculpture or video work.

Pivô Research welcomes visitors interested in gaining an inside look at the artists' ateliers for one week.

Diogo da Cruz, who has spent a significant portion of his residency at his studio in Pivô, Sao Paulo, will also open its doors to the public, taking the opportunity together with Fallon Mayanja to screen their recent footage for the third part of the sci-fi film series "AXECIDYR" for the first time alongside other installations and sculptures.

Diogo da Cruz and Fallon Mayanja present the first two episodes of their collaborative project AXECIDYR!

Synopsis: Screening of part one and two of a science fiction series that weaves fragments of the Afrofuturist legend of the so-called Drexciya civilization with concerns about the potential consequences of deep-sea mining. The screening will be followed by a discussion with artist Diogo da Cruz.

Research trip to Salvador de Bahia

Artist in residence at PIVÔ Art and Research, Diogo da Cruz is planning a research trip to Salvador de Bahia in order to work on the continuation of the film series AXECIDYR, revolving around socio-political criticism and ecological concerns especially regarding the ocean and natural resource extraction initiatives. He will be joined by sound artist Fallon Mayana, with whom he has developed the previous films.

Artist Gabriela Mureb has been selected for Salta art's program 2023 at AIR-M Ebenböckhaus! a residency launched in collaboration with the Department of Arts and Culture of the City of Munich.
Mureb’s work deals primarily with the appropriation of industrial parts to produce works situated between sculpture, installation, performance and sound. She is interested in how machines inherently carry, in their shape and movement, information about the context and bodies that produce them.

Gabriela Mureb’s work addresses relationships among body, technology and the world, proposing that we listen to machines as a way of listening to the path that produced them, continuously reenacted in their movements. Filmed at the BMW Recycling & Demolition Centre (RDZ), Crash provides an opportunity to observe Western world's industrial heritage through the insides of a technical event.

This will be the Brazilian dancer and artist’s first solo exhibition in Europe. Maria Noujaim’s visit, says Bianconi, “is a testament to the international reach of Munich’s contemporary art network.”

Research trip to Buenos Aires

Maurin Dietrich, curator and current director of Kunstverein München, embarked on a 10-day trip to Buenos Aires. During her stay, she visited the art fair arteba and participated in various events, including a podium discussion. She also visited several artists in their studios and explored galleries, museums and private collections. The trip concluded with a conference at Universidad Di Tella, titled COMPARE ME TO MYSELF.

In September, Salta art congratulates Amanda Carneiro from Brazil to having been chosen as a resident to the City of Munich’s Villa Waldberta, Feldafing, Germany. Carneiro is an assistant curator at the Museu de Arte de São Paulo (MASP) and co-editor of Afterall: a Journal of art, context and enquiry. Carneiro says she is looking forward to using today’s crises to shed light on conflicts buried beneath the quotidian routine of ordinary life.

Metamorphic animals by Maria Noujaim

In this workshop we explored, through dance and movement, the structure of metamorphic animals, hybrid and mythological beings in the body. Our aim was to research the possibilities of bodies in a multi-species perspective and landscape, where the human is just one more form in the larger web of forms of life.

A Space to Reflect

For its first program, Salta art partnered with Kunstverein München to invite Fundación Más Arte Más Acción (MAMA) from Colombia. MAMA described its experience creating a ‘space to reflect’ from three vantage points: as a concept, as an artwork, and as a sustainable resource. By arriving just after the opening at documenta 15, MAMA brought a bit of documenta 15 to Munich.
